At least six people were killed and hundreds were injured in communal violence and mayhem in Bangladesh during the Durga Puja celebrations last week. Several cases of unidentified Muslim persons attacking houses of worship of minority communities have been reported across the country and raised extreme safety breaches. Paramilitary forces were deployed in more than half of the administrative districts following an alleged blasphemy incident at a Durga Puja pavilion in Cumilla, near Chandpur which is about 100 kilometres from Dhaka.
